Why More Willpower Isn't the Answer; How Fueling Your Body Transforms Cravings, Energy, and Results

There was a time when I thought I just needed to try harder.

I’d mess up on a Thursday night, and immediately tell myself:

“That’s it. You have no discipline. You just need more willpower.”

So I’d double down. Eat less. Push harder at the gym. Try to white-knuckle my way through the next day.

But it never lasted.

I was constantly frustrated — like I was doing everything right but still not getting anywhere. And I blamed myself for that.

I also had CRAZY cravings. Like, what is wrong with me kind of cravings. Especially at night. I felt like I had no control, which just fed the guilt cycle even more.

But here’s what I didn’t see at the time…

I didn’t need more willpower.

I needed more fuel.

More protein.

More sleep.

More structure.

More grace.

Once I started eating enough — and balancing my meals in a way that actually supported my body — those out-of-control cravings started to settle. My energy came back. I didn’t feel like I was fighting myself every day.

Everything changed when I stopped trying to restrict my way to results and started actually supporting my body.

If this sounds familiar, you are definitely not alone.

And if you’ve been working on fueling better or building consistency, I’d love to hear how that’s been going for you.
